My Story
After finishing my studies in 1999 and with the excitement of the millennium celebrations ahead, I seized the opportunity to embark on the classic Australian one-year visa adventure. When funds ran low, I found myself in Adelaide, where my Auntie suggested working in the renowned McLaren Vale wine region — a role that promised accommodation, unlimited wine and a unique experience. It was an easy decision. From vine worker and grape stomper to tractor driver, these jobs quickly turned into a journey of discovery for the world of wine.
One unforgettable night, a farmer woke me at midnight, excitedly announcing that the Riesling grapes needed urgent picking — the temperature and moonlight were perfect. In that moment, I understood wine is not just a product; it is a craft shaped by the delicate balance of nature, precision and time.
Although my visa eventually expired, my passion for wine only deepened. Whilst working in London in investment banking, a friend introduced me to the concept of wine as an asset class, I was immediately intrigued and soon captivated.
After building a private wine collection that appreciated in value, I joined the fine wine business in 2004, specialising in Bordeaux. As global markets evolved, so did my vision. I saw the immense potential in expanding beyond Bordeaux to the exceptional vineyards of Italy, Napa, Champagne and Burgundy. Understanding that the future of wine investment would be shaped by a richer, more global perspective, I set out to create Vintage Vines.
In 2010 I had a clear vision to provide discerning clients with access to the top 1% of global investment wines.
