Cotes du Rhône

Close to the Swiss and Italian borders, the vineyards of Cotes du Rhône region shadow the Rhône River’s run from Vienne to Avignon. Robert Parker considers the Rhône as his favourite wine region and not without good reason! Wines from the Rhône region are of exceptional quality and for investors, Rhône represents perhaps some of the best “value for money” wines on the market.

Northern Rhône Notable vintages include 2010, 2009, 2007, 2003, 1999, 1998, 1990, 1978. The two investment grade appellations are Cotie Rotie and Hermitage, both made with 100% Syrah grapes. Notable producers – Guigal, Paul Jaboulet, Chapoutier, Chave

Southern Rhone - Notable vintages include 2010, 2007, 2005, 2001, 2000, 1998, 1990, 1989. Home to one of the best known names in wine, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which is made from a blend of up to 14 grape varietals, usually dominated by Grenache.

The best investment grade wines are the special cuvées made in microscopic amounts by Producers. The Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape ‘Cuvée da Capo’ has been produced 5 times and has received four 100 point scores and one 98-100 point score.
